Join us for a very exciting BRAND NEW workshop featuring two of Canada's best-known and well-loved educators - Robert Libbey and Dr. Nikita Vizniak.
"Couple's Therapy with Rob Libbey & Dr Nik - Integrated Pain Management: Evidence-Informed Techniques for Head, Neck, Pelvis, and Low Back"
This is a first! We are honoured that Rob and Dr. Nik have chosen MTAS to host them to co-teach for the first time. Prepare to have your socks blown off by these two high-energy gents!
WHEN: Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29, 2025. 8:30am - 5pm each day. Lunch break each day - food is not provided and may not be brought into the hotel meeting space. There is a restaurant on site. Refreshments provided during the day.
WHERE: Saskatoon Inn and Conference Centre, 2002 Airport Drive, Saskatoon.
WHAT: Live, hands-on workshop. Choose one day or both days.
CREDITS: 7 primary credits per day.
CLASS SIZE: Maximum 40 registrants. Minimum 24 required to proceed.

Course Objectives:
- Provide practical skills in differential diagnosis (DDx) for head, neck, pelvis, and low back conditions.
- Demonstrate IASTM and LAST techniques tailored to these regions.
- Incorporate updated pain science into assessment and treatment strategies.
- Enhance participant confidence in treating common and complex conditions in these areas.
FRIDAY WORKSHOP: HEAD AND NECK
Morning Session (3.5 Hours)
Introduction and Pain Science Foundations (1 Hour)
- Overview of head and neck pain presentations (e.g., tension headaches, migraines, TMJ, cervicogenic headaches).
- Rob covers updated pain neuroscience and clinical relevance.
- Interactive discussion: Participant experiences with head/neck conditions.
IASTM for Head and Neck (2.5 Hours)
- Dr. Nik: Hands-on techniques for fascia, muscles, and neural structures.
- Focus on migraines, tension-type headaches, and TMJ dysfunction.
- Practice session with guided feedback.
Afternoon Session (3.5 Hours)
Differential Diagnosis and Functional Testing (1.5 Hours)
- Dr. Nik: Red flags and clinical pearls for assessing head and neck conditions.
- Functional assessments: Cervical ROM, posture, and muscle imbalances.
LAST for Head and Neck (2 Hours)
- Rob: Ligament Articular Strain Techniques for restoring function and managing pain.
- Applications for cervicogenic headaches and neck dysfunctions.
- Guided practice with partner feedback.
SATURDAY WORKSHOP: PELVIS AND LOW BACK (7 Hours)
Morning Session (3.5 Hours)
Overview and Pain Science for Pelvis/Low Back (1 Hour)
- Common conditions: Low back pain, SI joint dysfunction, pelvic pain syndromes.
- Rob: Updated pain neuroscience specific to chronic low back and pelvic pain.
- Group discussion: Challenges in treating these areas.
IASTM Techniques for Low Back and Pelvis (2.5 Hours)
- Dr. Nik: Techniques for addressing fascial and muscular dysfunction in lumbar and pelvic regions.
- Practical focus: Sciatica, SI joint pain, and myofascial restrictions.
- Hands-on practice with peer evaluation.
Afternoon Session (3.5 Hours)
LAST for Pelvis and Low Back (2 Hours)
- Rob: LAST techniques for stabilizing the pelvis and addressing ligament strain in the lumbar spine.
- Focus on integrative approaches to SI joint and lumbar dysfunction.
- Participant practice and case study applications.
Case Studies and Integrative Treatment (1.5 Hours)
- Dr. Nik and Rob: Combining IASTM and LAST for comprehensive care.
- Live demos for complex cases (e.g., sciatica with pelvic rotation).
- Closing Q&A and participant feedback.
Integration Strategies:
- Morning focus: assessment, pain science, and IASTM techniques specific to the region.
- Afternoon focus: LAST techniques and integrating both approaches into clinical practice.
- Use case studies and practical sessions to highlight complementary use of IASTM and LAST.
- Reinforce pain science applications throughout, with clinical pearls and real-world examples.
What to bring:
- We will require 1 massage table per 2 participants. Please indicate on registration page if you are able to bring your table.
- Linens, pillow, towel, lotion/oil, instruments if you own them, notebook and pens.
- Dress in clothing that allows you to treat and be treated.
- Please refrain from wearing scented products.
